Cullen Winters delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning during Mount Carmel's 6-3 victory over Sandburg in the Class 4A Crestwood Supersectional at Ozinga Field on Monday night. The Caravan, with key contributions from Logan Fernandez and Brady Holland, improved to 30-10 on the season. Mount Carmel's pitcher Jake Matise prevented Sandburg from scoring in a critical seventh-inning jam, allowing his team to secure the extra-inning win. Mount Carmel advances to face the winner of the Schaumburg Supersectional on Friday at Slammers Stadium in Joliet.
