Amir Jangoo is a hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batsman from Trinidad. Born in the island, Jangoo rose through the ranks of grade cricket and fought his way into the Trinidad first-class side. He earned himself a Red Force contract on the sheer weight of first-class performances alone.

Jangoo was a product of the youth-nurturing program in Trinidad, and has graduated to the first-class level under them. He is the kind of hard-hitting left-handed batsman that the West Indies would love to have, particularly in the top-order. The consistency that he has manifested in the limited opportunities he has got has been phenomenal. He made his List A debut for the West Indies Under-19s in the 2014–15 Regional Super50 on 16 January 2015. He made his first-class debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the 2016–17 Regional Four Day Competition.

He currently plays for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier league. However, due to the presence of Denesh Ramdin, he finds himself struggling for a spot in the playing XI. He continues to be phenomenal in the first-class circuit, though, and with a bright future ahead of him, he may well be the shining light that West Indies cricket has been searching for to get them off to a flying start at the top of the order.

By Rishi Roy
As of September 2018
