1. FC Union Berlin prepares for 2026/27 Bundesliga season under new coach
Summary

1. FC Union Berlin is gearing up for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season following a challenging 2025/26 campaign that ended with a mid-table finish. The club, under new manager Mauro Lustrinelli after the departure of Steffen Baumgart, had a difficult pre-season, winning only two of nine friendlies. Union showed resilience in their DFB-Pokal opener by defeating Eintracht Braunschweig 4-2. The team has seen significant player departures, particularly in defense, but has focused on strengthening their backline with several new signings. The start of the Bundesliga season presents questions about Lustrinelli's ability to implement his strategies and improve the squad's performance.
