400 Detroit students prepare for third Kids Marathon event

Approximately 400 students from eight Detroit Public Schools Community District schools are set to participate in the third annual Kids Marathon this October. The young athletes will log 25.2 miles leading up to the final mile event on October 18, culminating at the Detroit Riverwalk. The Kids Marathon, part of the 49th Detroit Free Press Marathon, aims to engage children aged 6 to 13 in physical activity. This year marks an increase in participation from previous years, with various schools returning and some newcomers entering the program. Students will receive free shoes and have been preparing through various training methods.
