49ers and Rams prepare for NFL season opener in Melbourne

The San Francisco 49ers travel to Melbourne this week for their NFL season opener against the Los Angeles Rams. The teams are employing contrasting travel and preparation strategies for the international game. San Francisco departs California on Wednesday to allow for a multi-day acclimation period, while the Los Angeles Rams plan to arrive approximately 24 hours before kickoff to avoid jet lag. The 49ers roster underwent final adjustments this week following exhibition play, including the acquisition of Jarrett Patterson. The game features the return of Aaron Donald to the Los Angeles defense alongside Myles Garrett. The 49ers are scheduled to return to the Bay Area immediately following the contest to begin preparations for their September 20 game against Miami.
