49ers emerge as trade candidates for Steelers' Joey Porter Jr

Summary

The San Francisco 49ers have been identified as a top trade destination for Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who did not play in the season opener. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler highlighted the 49ers' strong draft capital and salary cap space as key factors. With eight draft picks in 2027 and approximately $45 million in cap space, the 49ers could bolster their defense with Porter Jr., who has been a key player for Pittsburgh since being drafted in 2023. The potential trade discussions highlight Porter Jr.'s dissatisfaction with his current contract situation, which is unlikely to satisfy his demands for a higher salary, considering recent contracts for cornerbacks in the league.
