49ers rookie De’Zhaun Stribling and tight end Jake Tonges suffer leg injuries

San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling was ruled out of the game on September 11, 2026, after suffering a non-contact leg injury. Stribling left the field early, returned briefly, and was ultimately carted away after losing the ability to put pressure on his left leg. The 49ers also lost tight end Jake Tonges to a lower leg injury during the same contest. Tonges was carted off the field and is listed as questionable to return, though his immediate return appears unlikely. Following these injuries, the team increased the roles of Jacob Cowing, Deebo Samuel, Demarcus Robinson, Luke Farrell, and Kyle Juszczyk. The loss of Stribling leaves the 49ers receiver corps depleted, as the team had already lost Ricky Pearsall for the season.
