49ers sign Victor Dimukeje and Nick Zakelj to one-year contracts

The San Francisco 49ers have signed defensive lineman Victor Dimukeje and offensive lineman Nick Zakelj to one-year contracts, as announced on August 17, 2026. Dimukeje, who was a sixth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, has spent four years with the team before moving to the New York Giants. He has played in 60 games with eight starts, accumulating 51 tackles and four sacks. Zakelj, also a sixth-round pick in 2022, has appeared in 29 games with two starts and spent 2025 on the 49ers' practice squad. To make room for the new signings, the 49ers released running back Khalil Herbert and offensive lineman Kion Smith.
