49ers travel to Australia results in missed birthday for Raheem Morris

The San Francisco 49ers traveled to Australia ahead of their Week 1 matchup, causing defensive coordinator Raheem Morris to miss his 50th birthday. The team departed the United States on the night of September 2 and arrived in Australia on the morning of September 4 due to the significant time zone change. Consequently, September 3 was skipped entirely during the flight. Head coach Kyle Shanahan described the logistical challenges of managing the team's schedule while navigating a cross-hemisphere journey that left staff and players uncertain of the current date. The 49ers are currently preparing for their game, which is scheduled to take place on a Sunday that aligns with Friday in Australia and Thursday in the United States. Despite missing the calendar day, the organization reached the team's destination to continue preparations for the opening week of the NFL season.
