76ers waive Dalen Terry to create cap space for LeBron James

Summary

The Philadelphia 76ers waived guard/forward Dalen Terry on July 27, 2026, allowing them to finalize a deal for LeBron James. Terry's release was anticipated as the 76ers needed to create salary cap flexibility. His $2.6 million contract was non-guaranteed, preventing any dead salary from impacting the team's finances. The 76ers have also reached an agreement with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on a one-year deal worth $3.9 million, but must make one additional roster move to officially add him to the team. Terry had earned respect in the locker room but ultimately was a casualty of the salary cap constraints following offseason decisions.
