Aaron Ramsdale occupies the fourth position in the goalkeeping hierarchy at Southampton following his return from a loan spell at Newcastle United. Head coach Tonda Eckert established Daniel Peretz as the first-choice goalkeeper, with George Long and Jamie Jones serving as the second and third options respectively. Ramsdale, who joined Southampton for a fee reaching up to £25 million in 2024, has not appeared in any of the club’s first six matchday squads this season. To maintain fitness, the 28-year-old has requested to participate in fixtures for the club's Under-21 side. Despite his current status, Eckert maintains that the goalkeeper remains part of the group and must continue to support the team. Ramsdale will remain at the Championship club until at least the January transfer window after failing to secure a move before the September deadline.
