Abdelkarim scores twice in Barcelona's draw with Birmingham City

Barcelona opened their 2026-27 pre-season with a 2-2 draw against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s on August 1. 18-year-old Hamza Abdelkarim made a notable debut, scoring both of Barcelona's goals. Alabama initially took the lead in the match, but Abdelkarim equalized twice, first via a penalty and then with a rebound goal. Despite a strong finishing effort from the young squad, Birmingham equalized through Jhon Solís. Following the match, a ceremonial penalty shootout favored Birmingham, who converted three of their chances.
