The stage is set for the 2026-2027 season of the UEFA Europa League

AC Milan and new coach Ruben Amorim will play two English opponents in the Europa League after being drawn Friday to host Sunderland and play at Bournemouth. Amorim lost the 2025 Europa League final during a mostly unhappy 14-month spell at Manchester United that ended in January. Milan also will host Benfica – the team it beat in the 1990 European Cup final – at San Siro in the eight-game league phase.

Sunderland will mark their first European campaign since 1973 with a trip to the San Siro after drawing AC Milan in the Europa League league phase.

English duo Bournemouth and Sunderland were both handed a glamour tie against AC Milan among their eight matches in the Europa League as the draw for this season's league phase took place on Friday.Bournemouth are featuring in a continental competition for the first time after finishing sixth in last season's Premier League, and can look forward to hosting seven-time European champions Milan on the south coast of England.
