Acclaro Medical terminated an employee who sent a racist text message to Los Angeles Sparks forward Dearica Hamby. The incident surfaced on August 24 when Hamby posted a screenshot of the message and the sender's phone number on social media. Fans identified the individual shortly after the post. The company initially placed the employee on suspension while conducting an investigation into the matter. On September 1, Acclaro Medical confirmed the staff member is no longer with the organization.
