ACU Wildcats drop out of FCS Top 25 rankings after loss to SFA

The Abilene Christian Wildcats fell out of the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll for the first time in 30 weeks. This follows a 26-7 loss to the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in their home opener during Week 2 of the 2026 season. The Wildcats started the season ranked No. 15 but are now unranked heading into their Week 3 game. They are 0-3 on the season and faced two ranked opponents, including a close loss to then-No. 20 Lamar the previous week. ACU will next face the Idaho Vandals on September 19.
