Addison Kleinke of Churchill High received fifth place at the USATF U20 national championships held at Hayward Field on May 18. She achieved a height of 13 feet, 3.5 inches, marking her best performance of the season. This result follows her successful conclusion of high school competition, where she became the first Oregon prep girl to win four consecutive pole vault championships. Though her mark ranks 19th nationally for high school girls this season, it did not qualify her for the U20 World Championships. Kleinke plans to compete in the Nike Outdoor National Championships before ending her season and preparing for college at Texas A&M.
- •Kleinke cleared 12-5.5 and 12-11.5 before failing to clear 13-7.25.
- •Hannah Grace from the University of Tennessee won the event with a height of 14-7.25.
- •Kleinke will also compete in the Nike Outdoor National Championships on June 20 and 21.
- •The pole vault championships were part of a season marked by both achievement and disappointment for Kleinke.
