Aidan Chiles debuts in Chip Kelly offense for Northwestern

Northwestern quarterback Aidan Chiles made his first start in the Chip Kelly offense during a game against South Dakota State at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium on September 5. Chiles completed 14-of-24 passes for 273 yards and one touchdown. The passing attack utilized play-action heavily, with Chiles recording 177 yards on 10 play-action dropbacks. Griffin Wilde led the receiving unit with three catches for 104 yards, while Drew Wagner recorded a team-high seven targets. Defensively, the Northwestern line dealt with injuries to Ezomo Oratokhai and Jackson Carsello, leading to a rotation that included Anthony Birsa filling in at center.
