Akron Zips let fan script opening drive for home opener

The University of Akron football program is offering a unique promotion where one season ticket holder will help script the opening drive of their home season opener against Robert Morris on September 12. This initiative, called 'Offensive Coordinator of the Game,' allows the selected fan to collaborate with head coach Joe Moorhead. The decision, announced on August 4, aims to engage fans and provide a behind-the-scenes look at the team's game-planning process. Akron hasn't scored a touchdown on its first drive in the home opener since 2022. The winning fan will be randomly selected on August 19 and will meet with Moorhead before the game to design the opening possession.
