Al-Qadsiah forward Julián Quiñones earns 2026 Ballon d'Or nomination

Julián Quiñones, the Al-Qadsiah and Mexico forward, received a nomination for the 2026 Ballon d'Or. The 29-year-old secured his place on the shortlist after finishing the 2025 Saudi Pro League campaign with 33 goals in 31 appearances, winning the league’s Golden Boot award. During the 2026 World Cup, Quiñones scored four goals and provided one assist for the Mexico National Team, helping the squad reach the round of 16. He became the first CONCACAF player to score the opening goal of a World Cup in a match against South Africa. His total of four tournament goals tied the record for the most scored by a Mexican player in World Cup history. The Ballon d'Or winner is scheduled to be announced on October 26, 2026, at an award ceremony held at the London Palladium.
