Alabama baseball commit Chubb Jones Jr. forgoes MLB draft for 2027 season

Alabama baseball recruit Chubb Jones Jr. confirmed his intent to enroll at the University of Alabama this January. The middle infielder and pitcher announced his decision to bypass the 2027 MLB draft via social media on Sunday. Jones originally committed to the Crimson Tide in March after flipping his recruitment from Clemson. As a junior at McEachern High School in Georgia, he recorded a.370 batting average and maintained a 2.19 ERA across 48 innings on the mound. His arrival provides depth to a roster currently working to replace several departing contributors, including Justin Lebron, Tyler Fay, Zane Adams, and Brady Neal. The addition follows the Crimson Tide’s appearance in the College World Series last year.
