Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell named dark horse Heisman candidate
Summary

Keelon Russell, a sophomore quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, has been identified as a potential dark horse candidate for the 2026 Heisman Trophy. Russell's emergence is attributed to his performances during the 2025 season and his competition with teammate Austin Mack for the starting position. With a strong supporting cast on Alabama’s offense, Russell could position himself as a top quarterback nationally if he performs well early in the upcoming season. The competition for the starting job is expected to continue into fall camp as the regular season approaches.
