Alexander Stadium stand named after track star Hudson-Smith

Birmingham's Alexander Stadium will rename its North Stand in honor of Matthew Hudson-Smith during the European Athletics Championships from August 10-16. Hudson-Smith, an Olympic silver medalist and four-time European champion, was surprised at the unveiling attended by his family and coach. The renaming recognizes his accomplishments, including winning gold in the 400m at the European Championships in 2018 and 2022. He recently began his 2026 outdoor season with a second-place finish in the Diamond League at Rabat.
