Algeria extends coach Petkovic's contract until July 2028

The Algerian Football Federation has confirmed that coach Vladimir Petkovic will remain in charge of the national team until at least July 2028. Petkovic, who took over from Djamel Belmadi in February 2024, guided Algeria to the World Cup for the first time in 12 years. The tournament begins this week across the US, Canada, and Mexico, where Algeria competes in Group J alongside Argentina, Jordan, and Austria. Earlier this year, Algeria reached the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations but were eliminated by Nigeria.
