Alison dos Santos breaks 400m hurdles world record ahead of Budapest championship

Brazilian hurdler Alison dos Santos set a new world record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 45.80 seconds in Zurich last month. The performance eclipsed the previous mark of 45.94 seconds held by Karsten Warholm. Following the record-breaking run, dos Santos reunited with his longtime coach, Felipe de Siqueira. The athlete is now competing in the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, which takes place from September 11 to 13. He enters the event undefeated in seven meets this season and remains in contention for the World Athletics Male Athlete of the Year award. The competition marks the first time this year that dos Santos, Warholm, and Rai Benjamin are scheduled to race against one another.
