Alvin Kamara returns to practice for Saints ahead of Lions matchup

The New Orleans Saints held their first practice Wednesday in preparation for the September 13 regular-season opener against the Detroit Lions. Running back Alvin Kamara returned to the field on a limited basis as he recovers from a knee injury. Three Saints players did not participate in Wednesday’s session: tight end Oscar Delp, running back Audric Estime, and defensive end Cam Jordan. The team has managed several health concerns throughout the preseason leading up to the Week 1 road game. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions reported limited participation for defensive back Christian Izien, edge rusher Derrick Moore, and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo. Several other Lions players, including cornerback Keith Abney II and linebacker Trevor Nowaske, practiced in full. The Saints continue their preparations throughout the week before traveling to Detroit for Sunday’s game.
