Amazon Prime Video adds six NHL teams for local streaming broadcasts

Amazon Prime Video signed a multiyear agreement to become the exclusive local streaming home for six NHL teams this season. The deal includes coverage for the Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and St. Louis Blues. Prime Video will carry live games along with pre-game and post-game programming for viewers within the respective team markets. The NHL previously announced in July that it would produce game content for the Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Wild, and Blues. This partnership expands upon existing agreements between the league and the streaming platform, which also includes Wednesday night national broadcasts in Canada. The move provides clubs with additional flexibility to distribute local broadcasts as the media shifts.

"Amazon’s Prime Video will be the exclusive local streaming home of six NHL teams this season as part of a multiyear agreement announced by the league Wednesday. Defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina, Anaheim, Columbus, Dallas, Minnesota and St. Louis will have their games on the platform in their markets. “We’re excited to build upon our strong relationship with the NHL and provide fans with more ways to connect with the local teams they love,” Prime Video head of sports partnerships Charlie Neiman said in a statement.
