Analyst projects larger role for Kaelon Black in 49ers offense

McCaffrey led the league with 413 total touches in 2025, a heavy burden for a player entering his age-30 season. While the team faced criticism for selecting another running back, Black demonstrated potential during the preseason by averaging 5.1 yards per attempt across his limited opportunities. He missed part of the summer due to an injury but is expected to compete for carries in a rotation that also includes Jordan James. The 49ers open their season against the Rams.
