Analysts predict Trey McBride will lead NFL in receptions for 2026 season

Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is projected to become the first player at his position to lead the NFL in receptions since 2004. After setting an NFL single-season record for tight ends with 126 catches in 2025, McBride remains a focal point of the Cardinals' offensive scheme. CBS Sports analyst Douglas Clawson notes that McBride finished just three catches behind league leader Puka Nacua last season. While the team transitioned to a new coaching staff under Mike LaFleur and a quarterback room featuring Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew, and Carson Beck, expectations for McBride's workload remain high. The tight end is entering the first season of a four-year, $76 million contract extension signed in 2025. If he accomplishes the feat, he would join Tony Gonzalez as the only tight end in NFL history to finish at the top of the league in receiving volume.
