Analysts question Jayson Tatum status among NBA leaders ahead of season

Summary

NBA analysts are evaluating the standing of Jayson Tatum heading into the 2026-27 regular season. Discussions center on whether the Boston Celtics forward is adequately recognized as a league leader as he prepares to head the team on his own. Recent roster shifts for Boston include the departure of Jaylen Brown, who moved to the Philadelphia 76ers. In exchange, the Celtics acquired Paul George, Mike Conley, and Mitchell Robinson. Some observers have questioned if these changes leave the Boston roster in a weaker position than previously assessed. The debate regarding the perception of Tatum remains a focal point for media coverage leading up to the season opener.
