Analysts question Sam Darnold and the Seahawks heading into 2026 season

Summary

Quarterback Sam Darnold enters the 2026 NFL season following a championship year with the Seattle Seahawks. Despite leading the team to a Super Bowl victory, questions regarding his long-term consistency remain due to high turnover rates and a lack of specific play-calling continuity. Darnold led the league with 20 turnovers last season, including 14 interceptions and six lost fumbles. While his transition to Seattle from the Minnesota Vikings helped him secure a significant contract, observers note that his past performance often fluctuated without specific coaches. The Seahawks open their season on Wednesday against the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch at Lumen Field.
