Anderson Severino signs with Hanshin Tigers after Mets release

Anderson Severino has signed a contract with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan following his release from the New York Mets. The left-hander was designated for assignment after a brief stint with the Mets, having pitched at Triple-A Syracuse this season with a 1.31 ERA over 20.2 innings. Severino has also previously played in the Mexican League. His contract with the Tigers is a chance to revive his career, as a successful performance in Nippon Professional Baseball could attract interest from Major League teams in the future.
