Andrea Radrizzani admits selling Leeds United after 2023 relegation was business error

Former Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani admitted he made a poor business decision by selling the club following its 2023 relegation to the Championship. Speaking at the SportsPro investment summit, Radrizzani stated that he sold at the lowest point of the club's valuation because he felt overwhelmed by the drop in status. While the club was previously valued at approximately £475 million if they had remained in the Premier League, the final deal with 49ers Enterprises was renegotiated to £170 million. Radrizzani noted the sale was positive for his mental health but acknowledged it was a financial mistake. His tenure included the return of Elland Road to club ownership and promotion under Marcelo Bielsa. Since the 2023 takeover, 49ers Enterprises stabilized the club and secured promotion back to the Premier League by winning the 2024-25 Championship season with 100 points.
