Angels switch Zach Neto to cleanup spot in latest lineup change

Summary

The Los Angeles Angels shifted shortstop Zach Neto from leadoff to cleanup on August 6, 2026. Neto hit a three-run home run in his first game as cleanup but has struggled since, recording just three hits in the next four games. Manager Kurt Suzuki expressed confidence in the lineup change, noting that Neto may benefit from more opportunities with runners in scoring position. The Angels currently hold the worst record in MLB and are experimenting with their lineup following a series of trades ahead of the deadline. They won two of their four games with Neto batting fourth and will face the Texas Rangers in their next series, starting Monday at 6:38 p.m. PT.
