Annika Sorenstam took the early lead at the U.S. Senior Women's Open with a round of 4-under 68 at Barton Hills Country Club on Thursday. Sorenstam's bogey-free round included a chip-in eagle on the par-5 17th hole. She leads Michele Redman and Jackie Gallagher-Smith by one stroke, both of whom have three combined LPGA titles. Juli Inkster is two shots back after a 70, while defending champion Becky Morgan and Karrie Webb are tied three strokes behind Sorenstam. The second round is set to begin Friday morning.
