Aoife Wafer targets elite status for Ireland ahead of WXV campaign

Ireland back row Aoife Wafer states that the squad is prepared to compete with the world's elite teams as they enter an upcoming WXV campaign. After finishing third in the previous two Women's Six Nations championships and exiting the last World Cup in the quarter-finals, the team aims to build on recent progress. Ireland will host the United States of America in Tallaght on 20 September, followed by two home matches against Japan. The team will then travel for two additional Test matches in South Africa later in October. Wafer, who was recently named player of the championship for the second consecutive year, noted that these five fixtures will present unique physical and tactical challenges. The Harlequins forward is returning to camp following a series of injury setbacks throughout the past year.
