Apple Valley teens take second at national shooting match in Ohio

Four teenage athletes from the Apple Valley Gun Club secured a second-place trophy at the Scholastic Action Shooting national championship in Ohio, competing against 2,800 registered shooters. The team was unique as the sole California representative in the event, where they used semi-automatic.22 pistols to aim at steel targets. Each athlete also participated in individual events, with 14-year-old Halia Mitchell winning first in the ultimate pistol 9mm division. Coach Ryan Gunn expressed pride in the team's performance, noting their success against competitors with world records. The team is set to compete at the Wisconsin Regionals from August 7 to 9.
