Arizona Diamondbacks defeat Texas Rangers 9-1 at Chase Field

The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Texas Rangers 9-1 on Thursday at Chase Field. The contest remained scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when Texas scored the opening run against pitcher Merritt Kelly. Arizona responded in the bottom half of the frame with a rally against MacKenzie Gore, who allowed a double, a walk, and a go-ahead two-run double without recording an out. Jakob Junis replaced Gore but surrendered another run, and the Diamondbacks later added five more runs to secure the victory. During the middle of the game, the Texas offense recorded an immaculate inning on the defensive side, striking out on nine consecutive pitches. The result marks the third straight loss for the Rangers in games where they held a lead. Texas remains in Arizona for the next game in the series scheduled for Friday at 7:10 pm CDT.
