Arizona State hockey player suffers cardiac event during workout

An Arizona State hockey player collapsed during an outdoor workout at the school on August 20 and is currently hospitalized. Matthew Mayich, 21, a defenseman who transferred from Clarkson this offseason, reportedly experienced a possible cardiac event. The Canadian-Croatian Chamber of Commerce held a virtual prayer session for Mayich on August 25. Arizona State confirmed that a player collapsed but has not publicly identified Mayich. The university has offered support to the student-athlete and their family during this difficult time.
