Arrests increase in Oxford during Ole Miss vs LSU football weekend

The Oxford Police Department reported a notable rise in arrests and incidents during the Ole Miss versus LSU football game weekend held on September 19. The game attracted a record attendance of 70,033 fans. Ole Miss police recorded 39 incidents that weekend, an increase from 24 the previous week. The Oxford Police Department made 34 arrests, slightly up from 32 the week before, with 14 for public drunkenness and seven for DUI. Traffic incidents also saw a rise, with the OPD reporting 42 tickets and 43 accidents, compared to 14 tickets and 24 accidents during Week 2.
