Arsenal maintained its 100% start to the Premier League title defense with a 2-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on September 12. Goalkeeper David Raya prevented an opening for the home side by saving a second-half penalty taken by Enzo Le Fee. Shortly after that save, Bruno Guimaraes scored the opening goal for Arsenal with a strike from distance. Bukayo Saka later added a second goal from the penalty spot following a foul by Reinildo Mandava, who was sent off late in the match. The result keeps the defending champions at the top of the table as Sunderland remains without a win in this sequence of matches.
