Arsenal Women conclude pre-season preparations with victory over Charlton

Arsenal Women finished their pre-season schedule on Wednesday at Meadow Park with a 5-1 victory against Charlton Athletic. After falling behind to a 24th-minute goal from Lucy Fitzgerald, Arsenal responded with scores from Georgia Stanway, Mariona Caldentey, Kyra Cooney-Cross, Olivia Smith, and Frida Maanum. The match marked the return of Cooney-Cross to the pitch following a leave of absence, as well as the continued integration of summer recruits including Stanway. Manager Renée Slegers noted improvements in shot creation and finishing as the squad prepares for the start of the Women’s Super League. The team now turns its attention to the opening fixture of the 2026/27 campaign against Brighton.
