The Oakland Athletics announced that Mark Leiter Jr. has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right hip impingement, retroactive to June 18. A's manager Mark Kotsay indicated that examinations showed inflammation, but the team hopes to have him back after the minimum time. Additionally, A's top prospect Wei-En Lin, who was recently promoted to Triple-A, is seeking a second opinion after unclear MRI results led to his placement on the 7-day injured list on June 14. Meanwhile, Zack Gelof, who was in the midst of a 23-game hitting streak, was held out of the lineup due to feeling unwell after being hit in Friday's game but does not appear to have a concussion.
