A's Nick Kurtz nears return; injury updates on Kuroda-Grauer

Nick Kurtz, on the injured list since July 11 due to a right thumb capsule sprain, could return to the A's lineup by the weekend. He has resumed batting practice and fielding drills. Following the A's recent game against the Diamondbacks, the team is also monitoring injuries to two players: Joshua Kuroda-Grauer, who left with a testicle contusion, and Colby Thomas, who exited with a left wrist contusion. Kuroda-Grauer underwent an ultrasound, and results are pending, while Thomas's X-ray returned negative, but his status remains uncertain based on swelling.
