Ashley Sanchez stakes USWNT claim with strong NWSL season for Courage

Summary

Ashley Sanchez, midfielder for the North Carolina Courage, has made a compelling case for a U.S. women's national team call-up with 13 goals in 20 NWSL games this season. Her recent performances include a dramatic game-winner and notable assists, showcasing her skill on the field. Despite last appearing for the USWNT in October 2024, Sanchez's evolution as a player and increased impact in matches suggest her return is a matter of timing rather than talent. The Courage will continue their season as Sanchez aims for individual accolades amid injury issues plaguing U.S. midfielders.
