Assumption football falls to Kutztown as local college teams complete matches

The Assumption Greyhounds football team opened their season with a 56-35 loss to third-ranked Kutztown. Assumption stayed competitive early by tying the game at the end of the first quarter, but the Golden Bears pulled away with 21 unanswered points in the second. Dom Santiago led the Greyhounds' offense with 343 passing yards and three touchdowns, while also adding two rushing scores. In other action, the Nichols men’s soccer team secured a 3-1 victory over Mitchell, and Holy Cross women’s soccer earned a 1-0 win against Central Connecticut State behind a late goal from Karenna Beckstein.
