Aston Villa pursues João Palhinha after Bayern Munich rejects loan offer
Summary

Aston Villa has formally approached Bayern Munich for midfielder João Palhinha, who spent the last season on loan at Tottenham. Despite personal terms reportedly being settled with the 31-year-old Portugal international, Bayern has dismissed Villa's initial loan proposal in favor of a permanent transfer. The club paid €51 million for Palhinha, whose contract runs until June 2028. Villa must now decide whether to make a permanent offer in the €25 million to €30 million range or propose a loan with a mandatory purchase clause. The situation is urgent, as Villa's Amadou Onana will miss a significant part of the season.
