Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey prepares for permanent transfer to Olympiacos

Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey is nearing a permanent move to Olympiacos following the close of the British transfer window. The 29-year-old previously faced an uncertain future at Villa Park after a late-window deal to join Hull City collapsed. Following that failed transfer, Bailey was training away from the first team under manager Unai Emery. He is now traveling to Athens to undergo a medical examination before finalizing a contract that runs until June 2029. Bailey struggled to maintain a consistent role in recent seasons, failing to score in the 2025/26 Premier League campaign and recording limited appearances during a spell at Roma. The transfer allows Aston Villa to clear wage obligations and address a stagnant squad situation while providing the player with a fresh start outside the English league.
