Astros GM Dana Brown departs, Jim Crane takes over baseball operations

The Houston Astros and GM Dana Brown have mutually parted ways as of August 24, 2026. Owner Jim Crane will temporarily oversee baseball operations during the transition. Brown, who served as GM since 2023, helped the team win two division titles and advance to the ALCS but faced challenges this season with a record of 65-66, tying for first in the AL West. Assistant GMs Charles Cook, Gavin Dickey, and Connor Huff, along with senior advisor Jeff Bagwell, will share Brown's responsibilities until a new GM is appointed.
