The Houston Astros have re-signed outfielder Nelson Velázquez to a major-league deal. The 27-year-old, who recorded a.715 OPS in his previous MLB campaigns, has been re-added to the roster as the Astros undergo front office transitions following the departure of general manager Dana Brown. Velázquez previously had brief stints with the Cubs and Royals and went unclaimed on waivers after joining Houston. He recorded four homers and 12 RBIs in 34 games with the Cardinals this season, and had 17 homers in just 53 games earlier in 2023. Ray Delgado was optioned to make room for Velázquez on the 26-man roster.
