The Houston Astros recalled infielder Raynel Delgado from Triple-A Sugar Land ahead of their game against the Angels. Delgado provides infield depth as shortstop Jeremy Peña deals with a hand contusion but is considered day-to-day. To make room for Delgado, outfielder Nelson Velázquez was designated for assignment after appearing in three games for the Astros. Velázquez, acquired on waivers earlier this month, has had limited success at the plate, going hitless in five at-bats. The Astros may need to address their right-handed outfield depth due to Velázquez's departure.
- •Delgado offers coverage for all infield positions.
- •Peña's MRI showed no structural damage.
- •Velázquez designated after just three games with the Astros.
- •Houston now has only one right-handed hitting outfielder.
